William Shatner

Born in Montreal, William Shatner attended McGill University, and went on to perform with the Stratford Shakespeare Festivals. Bit parts on television, including a role in the 1960 production of ?The Scarlet Pimpernel,? eventually led to Shatner?s defining role as Captain James Tiberius Kirk on the television series ?Star Trek,? (1966 ? 1999).

After the cancellation of ?Star Trek,? Shatner developed into a cultural icon when the show went on to air in late night reruns, creating legions of ?Trekkies.? Shatner reprised his role as Captain Kirk with the resurrection of ?Star Trek? as a highly lucrative film franchise beginning in 1979. He continued to mine the ?Star Trek? vein by writing a string of ?Star Trek? books, including ?Star Trek Memories,? and ?Star Trek Movie Memories.? In 1994, Shatner?s collaboration on the ?Tek-War? science fiction books turned into a co-starring role on a series of television movies based on the books.

Shatner filled in the spaces between the ?Star Trek? movies by starring in two television series: ?T.J. Hooker,? (1982 ? 1986), and ?Rescue 911,? (1989 ? 1992). In addition, he acted as a television pitchman for ?WEB TV,? ?NFL on Fox,? and Oldsmobile.

Twice divorced, Shatner met with further tragedy when his third wife accidentally drowned in their swimming pool.
