Scarecrow, The

Gene Wilder stars as a scarecrow brought to life in this historical fantasy by Percy MacKaye. Based on Nathaniel Hawthorne?s 1908 story, Feathertop Tale, Wilder portrays the scarecrow that becomes Lord Ravensbane, an instrument of ill-will who successfully woos Rachel Merton (Blythe Danner), ironically learning the values of love and friendship, and eventually choosing to die in order to save Rachel from further grief.
